Hey Everyone… Sorry about the delay getting this up. I had a footage/editing disaster yesterday. I decided that I would share what I’m making for gifts this year. I’m kicking off the month with The Tee. I wore it to Thanksgiving, and my sister and sister-in-law loved it…. so I decided it would make the perfect gift. In the next couple of weeks I’ll share more projects. They will get more brief as I get closer to Christmas. The Tee was one of the first patterns I designed, and I haven’t really played with fitting it using measurements in a long time (because I use knit muslins when I teach the class). So, I got to thinking about how one would pick a size and make adjustments if they didn’t have a set of muslins to try on.
I’m lucky because my sister-in-law is a similar body size and type to me, so I can use my pattern to make her Tee… But my sister is tiny. Instead of using the full bust measurement, I used the high bust measurement. I realized that The Tee has a built in size guide of sorts…. The above the bust seam that divides the upper bodice pieces from the lower bodice pieces is positioned almost exactly where you would take a high bust measurement! So I compared my sisters measurement to those of the pattern. Check out the video for the details on that.
Next, I want to do a test to see if ease needs to be evenly distributed across the pattern pieces when you’re relaxing the fit of the Tee. This came up in a recent Tee Fit Workshop. Maybe just slashing the pattern down the center and spreading it the desired amount is all you need to do (vs. making multiple slashes and spreading each slash a little bit). I’m excited see how that works out!
